We have an HP Proliant DL380 G4 Server that needs a firmware update on its Smart Array 6i storage controller. Following the documentation, I've downloaded the firmware update file cp009357, but it does not seem to be the correct one. The server is running WinServ08 32 bit. The current firmware for the Smart Array 6i is 2.58. Downloaded all the available firmware update versions:
I was in the same boat, and it's been a huge pain in my ass to try to get this firmware updated. I'm on a DL360 G4p and using firmware revision 2.36, and using the %uFEFFonline flash for Windows I can't upgrade to any of the firmware packages, nor downgrade to 2.34, nor force a reinstall of 2.36. It just does not recognize that I have the card I know I have.
Hp Ilo Firmware Dl380 G4
I've used the Smart Update Firmware DVD successfully to install firmware on a DL380 G5 from inside of Windows, but I'd still get the error you're running into on my DL360. Turning on the Force flag might show a Success, but checking the logs would indicate that it just gets the same error.
I tried using the 9.20B version of that DVD, but it still wouldn't recognize my 6i.%uFEFF This might be because the 9.20 version removed support for my DL360 G4p, but I had no problems using version 10.10 to install firmware. However, booting from the 9.10C DVD ( =MTX_3380ae888f86436aac54c149eb Opens a new window) allowed me to successfully flash the firmware on my Smart Array 6i.
Simple question - can you do this? Right now we have a server in a remote data center with no ability to get anyone on site. We recently had a HP tech there to swap out a failed disk, however the disk is now refusing to rebuild. Apparently there may be some issues with the firmware rev, but there's no way we can get a DVD out there in a timeframe we're comfortable with. I do have the DVD firmware-update iso though, and I'm staring at the remote console just wondering.
Barring firmware bugs that actually prevent booting from virtual media (e.g. some old G5/G6 systems had a problem where they would not boot from virtual media if there were external USB devices connected) you should be fine to boot from a virtual DVD and update your firmware.
My current thought is to have them power drain it again, wipe settings to default, then try and flash the firmware from the command line using hponcfg and see if it goes through in that state? But I don't have a lot of faith that it will work; so I'm hoping someone has a better suggestion, or knows of a different way to get the iLO out of this state - or knows if perhaps this will require the server motherboard to be replaced?
Thanks so much, this is a very useful resource. Everybody who like me has to search HP for firmware, then try to figure out how to extract relevant files from iso-scexe-whatsoever strange archives, will agree ? I hope this effort will continue. Thanks again, Paul
This is a great resource; HPE is absolutely making it more and more difficult to be their customer with failing web site; failing Intelligent Provisioning firmware updates and failing ftp site. Thank you for putting this together!
hello o want to update ilo3 on dl380 g7 to the latest version but because my ilo version is 1.15 i cant do it . i understand that i need to install 1.20 first and then the latest one . but nowhere even here i couldnt find ilo 3 1.20 . can you please help me ?
Super COOL.Thank you very much for the firmwares!!!! It worked like charm.I was a little concerned because i have a ilo2 on a proliant dl380 g5 and not g6 but worked perfect with the latest version(2.30)!Now ilo2 works very well on Windows 10 with the ie plugin installed.Thumbs UP!
Many thanks, this is the only internet place where I can found ILO 2 latest firmware. They are disappeared from hp site, I think they must write less infringement coiright letters and better organize their downloads!
thanks for all the latest firmwares, keep up the good work!but having a strange issue with ilo3 1.89uploads fine and flashes fine, but when run the web applet after downloaded,im getting an error sayingIgnored exception: ExitException[ 3]com.sun.deploy.net.FailedDownloadException: Unable to load resource: _231.jar
FYI: the Linux, Windows, and OS Independent firmware package pages for iLO 5 version 1.45 (3 Jul 2019) are up on the HPE Support Center web site, *and* the download links for each are active (at least for me):

The Fixes sections on the website says:iLO 4 version 2.75(b) was released with a packaging update. The update does not affect the firmware functionality. If version 2.75 was previously deployed to target device, then it is not necessary to update to version 2.75(b)
binary firmware files are identical in both versions:iLO 4 version 2.75(b) was released with a packaging update. The update does not affect the firmware functionality. If version 2.75 was previously deployed to target device, then it is not necessary to update to version 2.75(b)
Did you notice that as part of the latest SPP for Gen10 a version 2.42 of the firmware for iLO 5 is included (cp046458.exe)?The only way I can find to download the file is by downloading the SPP.
Thank you, It really is a pain that HP have a habit of re-organising their sites such that they break links.I can usually find the firmware after several searches and the opening of several tabs, but this really makes life far easier.
For those of you who want to extract the firmware from the Linux rpm package, gnutar is able to extract all the files from the Linux download. macos version of tar seems to be gnutar and can also extract all the files. You can see below.
% tar tf firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1.x86_64.rpm./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/.cpq_package.inc./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/.setup./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/CP052504.xml./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/LICENSE.txt./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/hpsetup./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/ilo5_271.bin./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/payload.json./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/readme.txt./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/firmware-ilo5-2.71-1.1/setup./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/hp-scexe-compat./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/hp-scexe-compat/CP052504.scexe./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/scexe-compat./usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/scexe-compat/CP052504.scexe
I tried this but unfortunately it didn't work. I had already done a firmware update and so I knew that wouldn't work. I suspect that if I reset the iLO via the motherboard then the servername would be reset to nothing which doesn't really solve my issue, but does look better. 2ff7e9595c
